The new interface I talked about before is done now. N.I.B. 1.0 has been released. You can now remove a number of icons, or all of them, right from the settings panel!

Also, the plugin lets you select the icons you want to use after looking them up, it doesn't just replace them anymore.

Glad to hear you have improved that. I have no idea how you managed it, which just shows that I am no programmer. :D That should make it much easier to install the plugin, which is always good news for users.

Hi again,

the current version of the Feed reading blogroll does no longer require separate feed-URLs to work properly. Actually, your article inspired me to add this new feature :-)

Not a problem, if I do screw up, I want it pointed out. It has happened before in this series, and I do not claim infallibility.

No, sorry, that was my mistake. I should have read your article more thoroughly.

And I should use the scroll-wheel of my mouse more carefully.

You had me worried for a second. I read your comment on the moderation screen, went immediately to check my test blog and saw you are correct that categories can be sorted in your plugin. I hate it when I make a mistake about something basic like that.

Then I looked at the quote you have there and realized something. That is from the section on the Auto Blogroll plugin, not your Feed Reading Blogroll plugin. Maybe I need to do something to break up the sections on each plugin more.

Thank you very much for mentioning me and my Feed reading Blogroll :-) But there is one thing I would like point out:

You wrote:

While you can order the links however you want, you can’t break them up by category, the way the basic blogroll widget can.

This is possible, if you check the option Group bookmarks by category. See my blog for example.

Jan’s last blog post..Die bessere Blogroll für WordPress …

I agree, as soon as you clear all of the image slots, someone will start complaining about losing some things they wanted to keep. And having a toggle in the default widget would make things much easier. I didn't think the uninstall was really huge, but I did want to warn people about it since it can be a continuing issue.

I am glad to hear you will be working on an improved interface. You have a nice plugin that makes it easy to use the image field in the links page. I certainly never had a use for it before. :D

Thanks for the mention!

I'm not really happy with the uninstall either, but it would be kind of blunt to just clear all the image fields upon uninstall. I find it odd that the default Links widget doesn't have an option to disable images. When I get the time I'll add a better interface for mass-editing link images.
