About

As I have been exploring the world of blogs, I have seen articles that say a blog should have an About page, so readers know where the reader is coming from. That makes sense to a certain extent. At least it does on the popular blogs that have a lot of influence, and make recommendations that can cost money.

It does not seem to be as vital for a small unknown blog like this, but what the heck, might as well look like I am doing it correctly.

So where am I coming from? Northwest Ohio. Lived here most of my life, grew up in a small town and went to a small school in the country. I have a BA in Psychology, then discovered I didn’t want to keep going to school for the MA and/or Doctorate that would make it useful. I am a middle aged white male, who is yet to figure out what he wants to be when he grows up.

I like reading, music, traveling, photography, hiking, and gaming. Some of my tastes in reading and music can be found in the reviews I will occasionally write, along with my Amazon.com store. You can see some of my travels and photography on my travel pages. I would love to do more of both. And I will from time to time talk about the games I play, either with my family or friends.

Not much more to say really. I will try to be as honest as possible with what I write here. What is the point of writing it if I am going to lie about it.

Writing about Plugins

I have been writing about plugins for WordPress users for a few weeks, so  I thought I should say something about that here. I am running both this blog and the blog I use for testing plugins on PHP 4 and MySQL 4, the minimum requirements for running WordPress. This means there are a number of plugins I can’t run, which is sometimes irritating. But it also means if I can run it here, you can probably run it on your blog. But only probably.

There are plugins that will interfere with each other because their developers are using the same kind of programming in conflicting ways. I have some here that do that, and some I have written about I can not use on this blog because of conflicts. This is also irritating. But something we have to live with when using free software. Until I find a better plugin anyway.
